Website design and support can take many forms...cont'd
Websites are critical to your business in the 21st Century. Without a website, many people will say that you don't really have a business.
Whether your website is composed of static text, dynamic data, or is truly interactive, whatever it looks like, that website is the outside world's window to your corporate soul.
Fine, you say...that sounds good, but what do you mean when you say 'static text', 'dynamic' or 'interactive'? What does all that mean?
Let us try to explain!
On the simpler side
Static text doesn't change unless the webmaster goes in and updates it. If you don't update it for six years, your site will look the same as it does now.Perhaps you need a new domain name registered. We can teach you how to do it, or we can do it for you.
Maybe you have the domain name, but don't know what to do next. We can help guide you through the process, or can take care of it for you.
On the more adventurous side
Perhaps you have an existing website which is beginning to look a little 'worn around the edges'. We can re-design the site, integrating some of the latest tools and technologies available to make it look sparkling new.
Do I need "dynamic"?
You may have a perfectly good website that requires alot of maintenance because the information changes frequently. We can adjust the site to have a database 'underneath' which will automatically update the site based upon the rules you set. Did we lose you on that? Need an example? Understandable.
Imagine that your website has a calendar of events on one of the pages. If someone has to go into that webpage manually to remove the event that happened yesterday, that is a 'static' page. If the event automatically disappears after the date has past, then that is a dynamic, data-driven website which is 'smart' enough to know when to display or hide an event based upon rules. In this example, the "rule" says 'only show this event until the day of the event - after that, hide it'.
What the heck is 'interactive'?
The most complex type of website is one which changes its behavior based upon the actions of the users. An 'interactive' site will display something different based upon the decisions and clicks of the users themselves. For example, an interactive website will allow a user to make choices and the information on that page will change based upon the choices made.
A good example of this would be an image of a sweater on a webpage which changes color as the user clicks red/blue/green/etc. The sweater image changes based upon the color that the user clicks. This site is 'interactive' - it reacts to the user's selections based upon underlying rules.
